The Urban Cow ½ M happened last October 2nd.
I know it’s past due for this race report and I apologize for not being so
diligent on my updates. I should have done this the day after the race but I
was held up with a lot of things around the house, work and product reviews.
I’ve done the Urban Cow ½ M race
3 times in a row now and this is one of the best ½ Marathon races that I highly
recommend to anyone. If you’ve been running and never done this, then you’re
definitely missing out. The race was very well supported and totally electrifying…you’ll definitely feel that runner’s high in the air.
So how did my race go? Well, not
too bad in my opinion, though I came in short in meeting my personal goal of 1
hour & 38 min. I crossed the line with a time of 1:40:30
(1 min & 21 sec slower from last year). Something happened between mile 10
and 11 that I ended up slowing down. For some reason, my right calf started to
tighten up and had muscle spasm. It was a bummer since I never experience any
of these when I was doing my 20 mile long run. It’s just hard to predict
the outcome of the race and things could easily jump out of nowhere. Anyhow, I was
still able to salvage the remaining two miles and minimized the time that I just
lost. It could’ve been a PR for me...but oh well, maybe next time.
Bip (1:38:34), Me (1:40:30), Tim (1:21:23) and Brian (1:52:42)
Few of my friends (running
partners) showed up as well and posted some good times. Thanks for keeping me
motivated guys, I really had a blast and I can’t wait to do this again next
Next race is the Granite Head Trails & Ales run this Saturday
for 11.2 miles and these folks will be there too. Hope I don’t parkour or any of those face plant:-). So stay tune!
