Time to turn to the next chapter, the Capital City Classic is in the book. It was an awesome race held in West Sacramento this morning. This was the first time I raced this event and the shortest distance I've done so far...it's only ten miles.
The goal was to PR at 1:14:00 (7:24 min/mi) but my result was not even close. I crossed the line at 1:16:15 (7:36 min/mi), not really sure what happened but looking at my Strava splits, it seems that I just don’t have it. Nonetheless, it was a good effort. I was surprised that I was still able to placed 1st on my age category and 18th place overall…not too bad for an old stud:-).
I have two more ½ Marathons left this year, the Davis Moonlight on July and the Urban Cow on October before diving into another crazy full marathon this December, the CIM.
There are still a lot of work to be done in order to get to Boston. My BQ (Boston Qualifying) time is 3 hrs 15 min which is 7:27 min/mi. My ½ Marathon best time of 7:34 min/mi is not even close to that pace, not sure how am I be able to pull it off. I guess eating too much ice cream is not going to help.
