Happy New You!

WELCOME 2016! It's that moment again…you know exactly what I'm talking about, those New Year's resolutions. I'll do this, I'll do that, I'll be a better person, and the list goes on and on and on...sounds familiar? Yeah tell me about it, I mean tell me more about it! How many times did you make those resolutions but failed miserably at the end? I guess it was really meant to be broken. But in fairness, I'm guilty as you are. Fair enough?

My personal goal this year is for better health. I believe that's pretty much on everybody's list and it really makes sense. As I put it ..."Take care of yourself so that you can take care of the rest". My goal is to lose at least 5 lbs before my first race this year which will be the Davis Stampede ½ Marathon on February 21st in Davis, California. Losing that extra 5 lbs will put me back to 160 lbs. I have unfinished business with this race and I want to redeem myself from a disappointing finish time of 1:51:28 back in February 2014. I was supposed to run this again the following year but my wife had scheduled it the same time with our trip to Yosemite. Family first, right? My goal is to finish it in 1:38:00 and set a new PR for myself.  I know it will be tough but I know it's doable. I will post my training logs in a few days so stay tune.

I really wish that whatever resolutions you have this 2016 will come true...reality is, it can come true and chances are it can be done. We just need to stay positive and make sacrifices to see the fruit of our labor. Sadly, most of us will hit some bumps along the way and we get derailed. That’s OK and that’s life, you just have to stay focus, remember success doesn't happen overnight it requires hard work and dedication. Let this year be your year. So get off your butt and start working on it.

Happy New Year to you all!
